What’s Wrong with the Indian Judiciary?

Indian Judiciary is what I will say a common mans last hope at running the country properly, and till now its lived up to it. Be it the Jessica Lal Murder case, to the Reservation Fight or the case of Alister Pereira where the Mumbai High Court is taking a sou-moto action when he was let go with a 6 month sentence for killing 6 people while driving drunk. The Indian Judiciary has always given our politicians a run for their money and has also given many rulings that our politicians would have never dared to make it a law.

But of late something’s seriously going wrong somewhere. Rajasthan High Court admitted a plea, summoning Liz Hurley & Arun Nair for performing a typical Hindu Marriage Ceremony after they had already got themselves married in Christian style in London. The person who filed the suit says it hurt Hindu sentiments? What Rubbish now, how many people do that daily? Let see if I were to have an inter-religious marriage, I would most probably do the same, makes sense as at the end of the day everyone’s happy.

Another case is the Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty case, where Richard Gere forcefully kissed Shilpa Shetty. Now, the only person who should have an objection here is Shilpa Shetty because she was the one who was forcefully kissed, and the only one to take Mr. Gere to court. But she didn’t object to it, instead our stupid 24×7 media went bonkers as usual and showed the clipping every 10 minutes. The result, mass protest being organized by political parties, and not one but 2 court cases, summoning Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere for indecent behavior. Don’t we have anything better to do?

One last thing that got me really pissed off was from Delhi High Court. It ordered an enquiry into the famous Kaun Banega Crorepati’s Celebrity Episodes (Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?). The complaint, that the show is rigged in favor of the celeb and is given easy questions so that they win huge amounts whereas the normal contestants have to face tougher questions. Celebs don’t take the money home they give their prize money in Charity whereas normal contestants take it home. Now what’s wrong with this, at the end of the day the money is going for a good cause and one shouldn’t have a problem with it. Did all our politicians become so clean that there need not be any enquires against them? More »

Ooops….

Ooops…

I almost forgot I had a blog, and with blogs you have to write and the last post I made was on 3rd March 2007, so thats almost 2 months.

So here’s to all the visitors, a sincier apology for not posting anything for almost 2 months, and also Inshallah I will make it a point to post something new atleast once a week.

Nike’s Traffic Jam Cricket Commercial

Just saw this on YouTube and just went fida over it. Its a real wicked ad and instantly connects with Nike’s tag “Just Do It.” Amazing ad!

About the ad:

While Stuck in a traffic, two guys start playing cricket on the bus roof. Then everyone joins in and epitomizes our love for the game. Inorder to have the celebrity quotient, Zaheer Khan and S Sreesanth appear as onlookers, who even get their car bashed up while the game is being played in a chaotic traffic jam. The peppy background song perfectly suits the spirit of the game.

All Comment Forms Open Again

Yes folks, you read it right, all the comments form are now back open.

If you are wondering as to what happened to all the spammers I was talking about last time then, have found a nice solution, thanks to my friend Pallab. Well he showed me the Challenge Plugin. From now on just before you hit the submit button for the comment you will have to answer a simple mathematical question, don’t fret its just addition of two random single digit numbers, and it shouldn’t be that tough. Sorry for giving your brains a little bit of work, but I guess its better than not being able to comment at all.

The only noticeable difference has been that I had to disable the Post Rating feature as it was incompatible with the challenge plugin.

Another thing before I finish is that, I have added a Contact Page, so if you feel like contacting me any time just use the contact form there, and I will make sure I get back to you. (Please make sure that your mail id is correct or it would be next to impossible for me to reply.)

P.S.: If you find that I have forgotten to open comments on any post, please let me know (via the Contact page of course)

Great Indian Reservation explained….

OLD VERSION…
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant’s a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.

MODERN VERSION…
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant’s a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

NDTV, BBC, CNN show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. The World is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be that this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house. Medha Patkar goes on a fast along with other grasshoppers demanding that grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter. Amnesty International and Koffi Annan criticize the Indian Government for not upholding the fundamental rights of the grasshopper. The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the grasshopper (many promising Heaven and Everlasting Peace for prompt support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance). Opposition MP’s stage a walkout.Left parties call for “Bharat Bandh” in West Bengal and Kerala demanding a Judicial Enquiry.CPM in Kerala immediately passes a law preventing Ants from working hard in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among ants and grasshoppers.
Lalu Prasad allocates one free coach to Grasshoppers on all Indian Railway Trains, aptly named as the ‘Grasshopper Rath‘.

Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the “Prevention of Terrorism Against Grasshoppers Act [POTAGA]“, with effect from the beginning of the winter. Arjun Singh makes Special Reservation for Grass Hopper in educational Insititutions & in Govt Services.

The ant is fined for failing to comply with POTAGA and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government and handed over to the grasshopper in a ceremony covered by NDTV. Arundhati Roy calls it “A triumph of Justice“. Lalu calls it ‘Socialistic Justice‘. CPM calls it the ‘revolutionary resurgence of the downtrodden’ Koffi Annan invites the grasshopper to address the UN General Assembly.

F1 Predictions

AHAA…. It’s the time of the year when you place your bets! Put your money where your mouth is!

OH ya, the F1 2007 seasons is just 3 week away from kick off or flag off to be precise. So, it’s time for some random F1 predictions and a series of foolhardy bets with fellow F1 friends, who for some bizarre reason think they know more about the F1 formbook than me!

Of course, that’s the best thing about this time of year if you’re into F1: you’ve been studying the testing times, reading any and every nugget of information about Renault’s new-improved-and-revolutionary-gurney-flap or whatever, and you’ve no doubt misinterpreted the lot. I’m sure I have.

Anyway, here’s some soothsaying from me. Feel free to reply with your own predictions…

Red Bull Racing: Recent testing has been a disaster. Their pace is slow. The drivers can’t fit the car without a tub of Vaseline and spoon, and Mark Webber having a general strop about anything and everything. This, of course, is a clear case of sandbagging and Adrian Newey has, in fact, built a car that is at least two seconds a lap faster than the opposition. Sadly, the car will break down in every race.

Ferrari: Convention-shunning long-wheelbase car will be the class of the field, but Massa and Raikkonen will offset any advantage by generally driving into each other and handing the championship to a surprised…

Comments Closed on Older Posts

Hi folks,

A tiny update that I am closing all comment forms on post older than say maybe 3 months or so. The reason is that, no one comments on posts older than 3 months as most of you, have read it and commented if you felt like. So, anyone still reading them are probably here via search engines and hardly anyone has any comments on it. The only comments I get on these posts is by spam bots on all things ranging from loans to viagra to porn sites, which thankfull get caught by WordPress’s Akismet Spam Filter. So by simple logic, it makes more sense to close the comments form on all the older blog posts.

So, if you wanted to say something about anything on one of the posts where I have closed comments, don’t fret, you can simply leave one on anyother post where the comments form is open, or maybe just send me an email on mohammed [at] muchhalasworld [dot] com (Just remove ths spaces and replace [at] with @ and [dot] with . Gosh have to do so much to stay clear of those pesky spammers.)

UPDATE (10/March/2007): All comments are now Open again. (Click here to know why.)

I’m Sorry

I’m Sorry!!!

It was one of my New Year Resolution, and am about to complete it. The resolution was to apologies to anyone & everyone out there. I have let you people down; I have lied to all you people out there for a long time now. And I would like to apologise for it.

The reason is; that as you might know I was doing my chemical engineering, but well failed miserably in my first semester it self and even after a total of 4 attempts couldn’t clear it. The only heartening fact was that, I did clear my Semester 2 that too with first class but heck who would have let me into Second Year without clearing Sem-1. As I reached my 4th attempt I had already lost interest in pursuing the course, I just gave the exam for the heck of it, and as expected flunked again. I know I have let a lot of people down, am I am very sorry for that.
